Do you see this plate of Spaghetti Vongole? Well that my friends may very well be the best plate of Spaghetti Vongole I've ever had in my life? Just Perfect. Look at it. Perfectly cooked spaghetti napped with the most delicious perfectly cooked Vongole (Italian Clams) you've ever had in your life. Oh my God, it was just to good for words. I'm getting hungry, and going crazy cause I'm looking at that picture and remembering that wonderful meal I had that day in Napoli. It was June of 2015, I was walking around down by the water, the Santa Lucia area of Naples near the Castelo Ovo (Egg Castle), and I was really Jones-ing for a tasty plate of Spaghetti with Clam Sauce, "Neapolitan Style," Thank You.
Yes, I knew I wanted some Spaghetti Vongole, so bad I could taste it. But where? I had to find a nice trattoria, and hopefully they'd do a great job and make me a really tasty plate.
Yes I was walking around Santa Lucia and just passed the Excelsior Hotel and thought I'd turn inland and look for a good place. I didn't walk far (1 block) when I came upon a place that looked good to me. There were people eating at tables outside, and so I popped me head in to take a peek, and see how I thought the place looked. A nice girl greeted me, as well as one of the waiters, and the place looked like it had good potential, so I asked for a table for one. The girl told me to take any spot I liked, and so I did.
I sat down and settled in to Da Marino. The place had a good feel, and I looked over the menu. I decided on a Seafood Salad and of course Spaghetti Vongole. I ordered a half carafe of Falanghina that was very good. My Insalata Frutta di Mare came, and it looked amazing, and it was. The best I'd ever had. A few minutes after my antipasto, out came my Spaghetti, and boy did it look good. I was salivating. I took a picture of this vision of beauty, and the started picking the clams out of their shells.
And the I dug in. "Oh my God," it was amazing. The Best Spaghetti Vongole I've ever had in my life. Even better than my favorite at Da Vincenzo in Positano. Yes believe it or not it was. The Vongole at Da Vincenzo is always great, but this had it beat. I couldn't believe my eyes, my taste buds? It was amazing.
Yes, the Antipasto and Spaghetti were both as good as could be, and I couldn't believe it that after eating those two plates, that I ordered a Pizza, but I did. I couldn't help myself, but they looked so Dam Good, I just had to have one.
I ordered a Salame Pizza, and when it came, it looked amazing. And so it was, maybe the best Pizza I've ever eaten in my life. Dam, this Da Marino is amazing. Their food is absolutely perfect, and this was without question one of the best meals in my life. Seriously, it was amazing, and one I'll never forget. Thanks Da Marino, I'll say it again, "you guys are amazing."
